Although I have been making since the 1990s I have recently returned to it after a 7 year hiatus bringing up my children. This experience has given me time to question what gives our lives meaning? what is our relationship to our environment? and how do we relate to the other animals we share it with? I have drawn inspiration from nature, from folk and sacred art as well as more contemporary artistic ideas. I work with ceramics because of its transformational nature. Soft formless clay is transformed through the hands of the maker and the alchemy of the kiln into precious objects. The process captures the fleeting movements and thoughts of the maker and once fired sets them forever. My ultimate aim is to produce art which embeds emotional triggers from many sources but which is ambiguous enough to allow each viewer to fill it with their own meaning.
