Helen Cammiss is a ceramic artist working in stoneware clay, slips and oxides. Her surface treatments owe as much to painting as they do to ceramics.
‘My work is an expressive and abstracted response to my close animal observations.
I want my sculptures to reach back in time to the earliest artistic manifestations in history and prehistory where animals symbolise the sacred and spiritual.’
Helen lives and works in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and is co-founder of The ClayRooms open access studio, where she teaches pottery and runs a retail space and members club.
