Holt, Gillian

  • ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I am currently making hand-built, stoneware vessels and smaller scale, slab-built and slip-cast porcelain and parianware. The larger work is partially glazed with stoneware glazes and sometimes partially glazed again with earthenware glazes before being finished with digitally printed images and/or text. The parianware is usually not glazed. Parian was know in the Victorian era as “poor man’s marble”. My themes are memory, family and social history, war and memorial. The sources are my father’s WW2 pilot’s logbook and photograph albums, medals, uniform badges and older family memorabilia, documents and photographs.
