Judson, Paul

I trained as a graphic designer, specialising in illustration but have always been interested in exploring other artistic disciplines including painting and ceramics. In addition to free-lance work, I taught art & design for 15 years in Leicestershire schools and colleges. In 1987 I brought my family to the North East where I spent two years at theological college and for the last 20 years worked as the Director of Communications for Durham Diocese. I retired in 2011 and recently took up pottery again, since when I have been able to buy a kiln and am really enjoying the time to create ceramic pieces again. My work is mostly slab construction with some coiling – inspired by groups of houses in landscape – and up to now I have been experimenting with stoneware glazes over oxides and under glaze colours.
