Liz Lambert Ceramics is my business started in 1981 when I lived and worked in Chudleigh, Devon, Moving to Kemberton, Nr Shifnal , & Hornsea, East Yorkshire before returning home to my lovely Yorkshire Dales. I am also Liz Carlisle to My family etc.
Each piece is unique, as my work is mainly hand thrown & hand painted, white stone ware though I do use other clays and techniques. My work is decorative and mainly functional, my surface decoration inspiration comes from the land and gardens around me. My Blue Bird (speckled blue with hidden seagulls come from living near the sea) the Green Tree is based on the great Elms of my childhood before Dutch Elm disease hit Britain. The Flowers are from my garden. I love shapes that are sensible, easy to use with glazes that are lovely to hold.
I attend a limited amount of shows preferring to sell direct, or by commission
I teach regular and individual classes. My Studio which is open by appointment lies in the Hamlet of Woodhall, Near Askrigg. In the middle of the Yorkshire Dales.
I am a member of Heather & Grouse (our craft cooperative shop in Askrigg) The Northern Potters and the CPA
