Inspired by the natural environment of my home on the edge of Marsden Moor and also the Northumbrian coast, to which I am a frequent visitor, I make precise wheel-thrown forms in stoneware and porcelain.
My primary goal is to enhance these regular and precise forms with surface texture and glazes using techniques that have an element of unpredictability. This results in each piece being unique while sitting within a collection of similar work.
I also enjoy teaching and am a ceramics tutor at Globe Arts art school in Huddersfield.
