Why do I sculpt in Clay and manly fire with wood? “Fire has been essential to our existence and development. Its handling is in our social consciousness and we respond to its flame intuitively.” (Nils Lou). It is this social togetherness that also draws me to figurative sculpture. My latest Porcelain work is also based on what people I watch are thinking, looking at or reacting to. This latest work on the clarity of porcelain allows me to utilize my painting and drawing skills using 3rd firing glazes applied with sponge, brush but mainly with calligraphy nibs.
