Working in white stoneware and crank clay I use a variety of handbuilding techniques such as coiling, slab work, press moulding and slip casting to create functional and decorative stoneware for indoors and out. My work is quite sculptural and I’m particularly interested in surface texture and colour. I like that each piece is unique and unrepeatable. I never fail to be fascinated by the transformation from dull powdery unfired glazes to the fired piece. Opening the kiln is always an exciting undertaking.
