All my work, be it thrown or hand built, is generously made; substantial rims and handles freely decorated using a minimum of vibrant colours. All my work is made in white earthenware fired to 1160/70° centigrade. My ideas and influences come from many places. Artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothco, Howard Hodgkin and more recently Francis Boag heavily influence my decoration. Interest in English Slipware and all things Japanese also contribute greatly to my work. In Japan, ceramics, which Europeans consider too arty or precious, are often seen in daily use. I hope that my work is used in this way.
