John Hawkins

Born in West Yorkshire in 1947, I trained as a tailor's cutter and progressed to become a designer/pattern cutter. For the past twenty some years I have been a bespoke tailor. In the year 2000 I started attending a pottery evening class and have been potting ever since. Four years ago I started making earthenware figures, but I now fire them to stoneware giving better colour and a stronger product. My intention is to create well observed figures with great attention to detail. The figures are unglazed and treated with oxides to preserve and enhance the detail.
