Lucy's latest ceramic work is inspired by coral, fossil and shell form. She discovered the technique of creating small conical shapes, and making ceramic forms, while 'playing with clay'. Lucy began by making small 'jigsaw' shaped pieces, and then vessel forms, but is now tackling bigger pieces and stretching the use of clay, and her skills. The 'shell' ceramics are stoneware. Some of her pots are glazed with soft colours, while the crank clay pots are washed with oxides, to produce an aged organic surface. The black pots feel volcanic to the touch.
