7 December 2025

Cannon Hall Winter Ceramic Walk, Cannon Hall, Bark House Lane, Cawthorne, Barnsley, S75 4AT

Meeting at: 11:30am on: Sunday 7th December 2025

We invite all our regional members to an end of year walk and talk! We’d particularly like to welcome too any new members, who’ve not been able to meet up with us yet!

This is a gentle walk to take a look at the ceramics and the sheer beautiful surroundings of Cannon Hall park.

Directions:

When approaching from the A635 Lane Head Road, turning up Bark House Lane – Cannon Hall is sign posted there. Park at the bottom car park which is on the right hand side to the garden centre. We are expecting to get money toward a £5 Parking charge if we go over 2 hours.

We will meet at the Pavilion café entrance for ‘Coffee and Cake’ as its a great meeting place while we await for us all to gather.

From there we will go up past the Deer Shed walking towards wallk towards the Icehouse, where we can go via a sensory woodland walk to see Jim Robison’s huge wall sculptures.

Before entering the museum to see their amazing ceramic collection and in particular the newly acquired work of one of our members John Holt!

Check out their Ceramics collection:

From here we can enter the Walled garden which was the source of inspiration for Moorcroft Pottery and also see an amazing chicken wire sculpture of a huge Rhinoceros.

Turning out from there we will enter the fairyland garden created by Cecily Spencer -Stanhope, past the Cold Plunge pool before exiting the garden to walk down towards the lake, this has a lovely path for wheelchair users, and buggies! There are plenty of geese Canadian and our traditional– 6 geese a-laying type. Before heading back to the carpark, anyone wanting to stay longer and have a picnic lunch there’s a group set of Picnic tables beyond the Deer shed that we passed earlier.

Please ring us on the day if you are having problems.
