I have made pots for 35 years, off and on, throughout my working life. My recent move to The Yorkshire Dales has given me the time and space to pursue this obsession. My pots are made from red earthenware clay, predominately wheel thrown or hump moulded, slip decorated, raw glazed and once fired in a gas kiln to 1060 – 1080°C. I take functional English medieval and post-medieval pottery forms and methods of decoration as a starting point for developing new work, at the same time contemporary and traditional in spirit, and “racy of the soil”.
