The coast line to the north of Lancaster is very beautiful with gorgeous colourful beaches, and wonderful sunsets. This, together with the Langdales, has been my inspiration for colour and texture. I make a slab by painting and layering porcelain slip. I colour my work by integrating the porcelain slip with instinctively chosen quantities of blue, yellow and red stains. I rub back or add more layers as I work, then add touches of glaze. My work is all about textures and feelings. It is spontaneous, capturing freshness and passion.
