My maiden name was “Potter”, and I seem to have been making things from clay ever since I was a small child. Largely self-taught, the stoneware hedgehogs came first – from small babies of a couple of cm to giants of two feet. As a keen gardener I create practical, robust and unique outdoor planters and sculpture that show off plants to their best, complimenting rather than overpowering their beauty. I love to connect my work to Cumbria and its landscapes, crafting and capturing something simple and honest that can be used and appreciated. All my work is fired to 1260°C or above, so they can safely stay outside all year round.
