I am fascinated by symmetry of the circular form. I express this through my wheel thrown pottery. My other influence is love for the wildness of the natural world. To reflect this, I like to introduce an irregularity of finish, which enhances the symmetry of the original body. The tightly controlled form produced by throwing is transformed by natural oxide glazes. The interaction between clay, glaze, and heat brings the pots alive to produce ever varying results which depend on the variety of swirls, splashes, and thicknesses of the glazes. I work as principal potter and director of Pommiers Ltd.
