Manners, Laura

Through clay I communicate the juxtaposition of manmade structures and nature observed in derelict sites which scatter the landscape in rural Nottinghamshire. They are a rich source from which I draw much inspiration; contrasting textures and forms observed through this decaying beauty conflict and submerge within spaces where they often would not appear at rest. Photography is pivotal to the development of my designs, instantly capturing moments and highlighting my attachment to rural life and decay witnessed in the landscape. I continue to work with themes of industrial decay and natures resilience to man’s impact.
