The inspiration for much of my work lies in the relationship between animals and humans within fairytales and fables. Interweaving the symbolism of these ancient stories with personal memories, I blur the boundaries between truth and mythology to offer the viewer an alternative narrative. Some of my creatures reference a nostalgic past, being whimsical and gently humorous, whereas others are psychologically darker and thought provoking. I use a variety of making and firing methods including the serendipity of smoke and saggar firing to achieve a range of surface colouration and textures to complement each unique piece.
