I work from my studio at the bottom of my garden in Sheffield. My work is smoke fired handbuilt ceramics or handbuilt, glazed sculptural pieces. The sculptural pieces I produce are influenced by natural, organic forms such as pine cones, conkers or sempervariums. Each piece has individually hand made additions attached to a hand-built body. They are very time-consuming to make and are fired to a stoneware temperature. I have been working as a potter for over 20 years and have a degree in fine art. My interest in ceramics developed after graduation when I volunteered at an open access pottery studio in Oxford for a period of five years. My work has been shown in galleries throughout the UK and I have previously exhibited under the name Linda Yates which was my maiden name.
