My ceramic works reflect a response to ideas and influences that become important to me. I am interested in the process and the medium of clay to express these. I have been exploring the possibilities inherent in porcelain paper clay to layer thin strips into fragile and translucent tiles. I have always enjoyed veils and glimpses of things ‘seen through’ or ‘running behind’. Geometry, pattern, the folded forms of origami, and the wood sculptures of David Nash have been recent inspirations which have tested my making abilities.
