If you’re looking for ways to get in touch with your creative side, learn something new and have fun along the way, this clay sculpting class in Sheffield is a great way to pick up some traditional sculpting skills as you make your own clay figurine.
This workshop gives you the opportunity to make your own figurine, as well as sharing ideas and experiences with each other.
Based in an old cutlery factory in Sheffield, you’ll be hosted at Mary’s light, airy studio space, where you’ll view some examples of her work, as well as plenty of printed images for inspiration. Mary will demonstrate techniques to help you to achieve a figurine structure which you can build on and make your own. These techniques will include slab building, coiling and pinching. There may be time to do some simple decorating with imprints and slip.
Everything you need will be provided, so all you need to do is show up and be ready to get creative with clay. Once you have finished your figure Mary will fire the piece and you will be able to pick it up from her studio within two weeks.
