After more than four decades working with clay, my practice underwent a significant shift in 2023. For many years, my work centred on sculpting in clay before creating moulds and casts for production. This direction changed following my collaboration with a team of Northern potters on a large-scale terracotta installation for Yinka Shonibare, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2024. The experience prompted me to embrace ceramic processes as an integral part of my sculptural practice
The following year, I changed studio and acquired a large WASP LDM ceramic 3D printer, which transformed the way I work. My practice now combines traditional hand sculpting with digital technologies, moving fluidly between sculpting, 3D scanning, ceramic 3D printing and further hand finishing. Depending on the needs of each project, I also draw on a wide range of materials, techniques and processes, allowing each work to develop through the methods best suited to its ideas and form.
Known as a serial collaborator, I am inspired by complexity and challenge.
