Chappelhow, Mary

My vessels are inspired by the action of water and its erosive effects on river beds, cliffs and pebbles. Pots are wheel thrown in porcelain and then turned to created individual unique forms. They are glazed in a copper red crackle glaze or a celadon in a reducing gas kiln. The flame gives flashes of colour contrasting with the white porcelain underneath. I studied at Cumbria College of Art & Design gaining a First Class Honours Degree in 2000. I am the author of ‘Thrown Pottery Techniques Revealed’ Apple Press and a World Record Holder.
