I first saw someone on a wheel at a very young age and knew immediately that was what I was going to do, but it was many years before I was able to try it myself, then I was hooked.
Life is full of twists and turns and I went in another direction but came back to pottery some years later with renewed enthusiasm. Gradually it is taking over my life. There is nothing quite like playing with a piece of clay and the thought of what it could become.
Now I enjoy pushing the boundaries of what I can make on a wheel. A while ago it was thin pots with long tall necks. Now it is closed forms and what you can do to alter them, but more recently I found out how to throw hollow pots by experimentation and this is something I’m still exploring in my spare time.
I work out of a converted garage at home with a wheel and a small kiln, which because of its size keeps me grounded, due to its size.
