Morris, Richard

Exploring the diversity of simple thrown forms dictates most of my ceramic development. Bowls and vases form much of my output and I love small feet with stability being a secondary consideration. Gertrud and Otto Natzler’s work is particularly inspiring. The work is fire between Cone 6 and Cone 10 using a range of stoneware, porcelain, and “wild clays”. The glazes I use are often from materials inherited and of unknown composition, so I suffer a lot of unexpected results. I use an electric kiln mainly for bisque firing and oxidation, and a gas kiln for reduction.
