I discovered clay later in life and initially while I was teaching in Shanghai, China in 2010-2016. I had avoided working in clay until then. I am largely self taught and took some amazing workshops once I returned back to the UK. It took me a while to realise I prefer human sculpture to other forms of ceramics, and in particular I love depicting faces. Just recently my work has become more political and provocative as it has become imbued with a sense of emotional narrative.
